A bequest is a simple, convenient way to support Legal Aid in the future, and you have a number of options. You can make a bequest for a specific dollar amount or for a percentage of your estate. You can designate your bequest for general use at Legal Aid, or you can restrict its use.

We encourage you to share your final documents or provisions of the final documents with the Brevard County Legal Aid to ensure that your wishes will be properly followed and recognized. To assist you with this important process, we offer some suggested bequest wording below. Suggested Bequest Wording

I give, devise, and bequeath to the Brevard County Legal Aid, Inc., a not-for-profit organization located in Rockledge, Florida, (for example – _____ percent (%) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, or a specific amount). The available funds are to be used by the Brevard County Legal Aid, Inc., for (for example – for Domestic Violence Legal Services, Foreclosure, etc.).

IMPORTANT: If your bequest is restricted to a specific purpose, it is important that the following wording below be added at the end of the provision. This will ensure that, in the remote possibility a field of law or specified purpose may cease to need funds in the future, an alternate use for the bequest may be determined.

If, in the best judgment of the Board of Directors of the Brevard County Legal Aid, all or part of the Gift cannot be used in the manner described in this Agreement, the Board may use the Gift for other purposes as nearly aligned to the Donor’s original intent as the Board deems appropriate under the circumstances.
